Jesus? Yes. Church? no thanks
Sunday, August 26 begins a new series in worship based on the book of Acts and the birth of the church. The stark photo of the chancel speaks to what the early church was called to do before the first building was built and the first deacon commissioned: meet with Jesus and wait for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes waiting is far more difficult than doing. Waiting means I'm not in control, God is. Waiting means being still and quiet, and I like to talk and keep moving. Waiting means being passive and I like being active. Waiting means admitting I need something, and I like to think I have all I need.
